On March 27th three graduate students from the University of California Riverside will present their research on the role minorities played in the Inland Empire citrus industry. As Redlands became a focal point of the industry Native Americans, Chinese, Korean, Japanese were employed. The Federal Bracero program employed many Hispanic men throughout the area. Additionally the role of Black Americans in the citrus industry will be explored.
The Historical Society’s programs are free and open to the public. The meeting will be held in the assembly room of the A.K. Smiley Public Library, 125 W. Vine Street, Redlands starting at 7:00 p.m.
