March is Women’s History Month, and this year The Redlands Area Historical Society shines a light on a remarkable, yet often overlooked, figure in our region’s early story. Long before Redlands was incorporated, Maria Arementa Bermudes helped shape the very foundations of our community – from the basis of what became Redlands’ drinking water system to the vehicle roads we travel daily and the development of our regional economy. You will learn how one Californio woman became such a pivotal force in the history of this area and why her story has faded from public memory.
The program will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 7:00 p.m. at the Redlands Contemporary Club.
RAHS Board member and 4th generation Redlander, Kathleen Beall will present a program based on her years of archival research conducted across California to reveal the life and legacy of this early civil settler, farmer and merchant.
The program is open to the public will begin at 7:00 p.m. The zoom link for the program is:
