The Historical Society will be hosting a training workshop on Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the Heritage Room of the A.K. Smiley Public Library. Workshop attendees will learn the steps usually taken to find the year of construction, builder and/or architect. Sources materials such as old City Directories, building permits, subdivision maps, Sanborn Insurance Maps, will be used to find the names of previous owners and dates of construction. The Citrograph files and City records will also be explained.
The library has a subscription to Newspapers.com which allows research into both previous owners and stories on homes and subdivisions. Local historian, Tom Atchley will be conducting the workshop. Space is limited so r.s.v.p. to email@example.com.
