Worthing, O. A.

O. A. Worthing is a native of Illinois, in which state he lived for forty years. He was born upon a farm, and has followed farming as an occupation all of his life, east and west. He was married to Miss Chastina Gaylord, of Oswego, Ill.  They have three children living – Sopharet, who resides at home an is a student at the Redlands Union High School; Mrs. R. C. O’Bryan, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Richard Kosking, of Redlands.

 

Mr. Worthing came to Redlands in the fall of 1887, and purchased as ranch of eleven acres on Cypress avenue, which he planted to navel oranges.  He also owns a ranch at Crafton, also set to oranges, and is one of those who have made a success of orange growing.  For five years Mr. Worthing conducted a hay and grain business on Orange street, which he sold about a year ago.  He is now one of the firm of Worthing & Hight, grocers.  Mr. Worthing is president of the Redlands Board of Health, of which he has been a member since it was organized in 1889.
