837 Walnut Avenue
1890

Fred E. Hotchkiss arrived in Redlands in 1886 and arranged to have his house built at 837 Walnut Avenue around 1890. Hotchkiss was the Secretary of the Bear Valley Irrigation Company and owned several orange groves in Redlands.

The two-story house is a Victorian gingerbread with a high cross-gable roof, brick foundation and many decorative gables and brackets.

Mr. and Mrs. William England are the present owners.
