Hales, Edwin R. (1910 – 1982)

EDWIN RAYMOND HALES lays claim to be­ing a native son, having been born in Redlands Nov. 29, 1910. He grew up here and received his grammar school education in the local schools.

 

He is a graduate of the San Diego Army and Navy academy and also graduated from the University of Redlands in the class of 1933. At the U. of R, he was a star athlete and one year was named Southern California all-conference tackle in football. He was ac­tive in all other sports, He is well known for his Y. M. C. A. boys’ work and summer camp work, and is a member of the First Baptist church.

 

In June of 1937 he graduated in law from the Southwestern university of Los Angeles and the following fall was admitted to the practice of law in the state of California. He is now associated with his father, Burton E. Hales, in the practice of law, with offices in the Hubbard building.

 

On June 11, 1938 Mr. Hales was married to Miss Thelma R. Rehder at Fort. Dodge, Iowa. They make their home at 519 West Olive avenue in the Elon apartments, inci­dentally named after the senior Mr. Hales, who is the owner of the property. Edwin is affiliated with the Kiwanis service club and the Redlands lodge of Elks.
